The Cirque du Soleil Casting team is seeking a male contemporary dancer to fill the role of le Travesti at our resident show O in Las Vegas! 

*** APPLICATION DEADLINE May 5TH, 2024 *** 

The Role:  le Travesti is extravagant, and every moment MUST be unforgettable. 

He must speak thru theatrical and grounded movement, extremely musical and in tune with his full body and range. He should be able to 'tune' his body to different scenes and transitions. 

This is a highly nuanced performance. Dressed in the attire of a body forward woman, he coos, hisses, and murmurs - his primal cries echoing throughout the theatre.

Requirements and Qualifications: 

• Male Identifying 
• Black/African American, Latinx/Hispanic or Indigenous/Native American Descent 
• Minimum age - 18 years old 
• Muscular and athletic body type. 
• Background in contemporary dance and character work 
• Comfortable holding the stage and using the voice.  
• Ability to perform consistently and sustain 10 shows per week. 
• Also, you must be able to swim! There is a required 15-minute swim test. 

Interested and qualified candidates must apply online and submit all of the following: 

1. A current resumé 
2. A current headshot and full body shot. 
3. A current demo reel and/or recent performance of ALL your applicable skills. 
4. A 1-minute presentation to the camera (tell us your name, age, your background and why you want to work for Cirque du Soleil). 
5. Two demos including the following elements: 

*Character work 

*Power moves and jumps 

*Improv with a fan of some sort 

*Create your own language 

Based on this description, please film two demos. They should be approx. 1-3 minutes in length using the same piece of music for both. 

Video 1: Travesti enters the environment with a secret. Travesti expresses sheer excitement as he sees he is alone and can outwardly move and express his excitement. this secret is positive and will affect the entire WORLD of O. with the entire environment his domain at the moment, Travesti is allowed to show his strength and power and his overall positive relationship with the fantasy characters of O. Travesti believes with all of his heart that this is his world, and he controls its destiny. 

Video 2: Travesti enters the environment with a secret. He enters and is not alone. He is aware that there are many characters and creatures sharing this space. The Characters are all sharing the magical environment of O. 

Travesti acknowledges all of these beings but needs to prove his power. 

As he moves, Travesti feels that all are moving on, leaving him alone in the space. This secret is not positive. This secret could affect the WORLD of O negatively. He needs to cleanse the space in order to shift the energy allowing for the coming unknown event to shift to a celebration. 

Please use the music link provided below. Speak thru movement and clear intention. Paint the scene and portray emotion. 

Travesti is raw and very vocal, embodying the keywords of masculine and feminine, primal, surprise, wow effect, charismatic, and wild. 

Please use your own vocabulary and interpretation, showcasing who YOU could be as this character. Incorporate power moves (off the floor) and jumps as needed. Utilize your voice and feel free to create your own language if possible. You may also use a hand fan as an accessory. A fan is used as a prop in the production.
